Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry

This one had me all over the place. Slow ramp, and I really had to push myself to keep going at the start. But after about 150-200 pages I was completely hooked. There’s something about the realness of the characters and how normal yet tragically difficult their lives are. The book ended up being more of a lesson on how to live and approach life rather than a great story. But it was also a great story. I ended the book feeling satisfied, but with a great sense of loss. It’s a book I think everyone should read at some point in their life.
